Majestic humpback whales are the stars of this experience, often displaying spectacular behaviors like breaching, tail slapping, and spy hopping. These 40-ton gentle giants migrate thousands of miles to breed and give birth in Costa Rica's warm waters. Itinerary
The adventure begins with a safety briefing and introduction to whale biology at our meeting point. You'll then board our specially designed tour boat and cruise out into Ballena Marine National Park waters, where your naturalist guide will explain the unique geography of the region and why it attracts so many marine mammals. The captain will navigate to recent whale sighting locations while your guide scans for telltale water spouts and surface activity. We'll spend approximately 2 hours observing whales and dolphins at a respectful distance that prioritizes animal welfare. Midway through the tour, we'll anchor at a protected cove for optional snorkeling and refreshments. During the return journey, we'll cruise along the famous Whale's Tail sandbar formation for spectacular photos before returning to shore by midday.
